Ann Blandford is the Director of UCL Institute of Digital Health. She is an expert on the design and use of interactive technology in healthcare delivery, and particularly on how to design systems that fit well in their context of use and for their intended purposes. She was leader of an EPSRC Programme grant, CHI+MED, and currently leads an NIHR grant, ECLIPSE, both on designing safer interactive medical devices. She has been co-investigator on further grants on the design and use of digital health technologies, including the MRC funded Farr Institute, the UBIHEALTH Marie Curie Action "International Research Staff Exchange Scheme", and projects within the i-sense IRC. She has published on the design and situated use of interactive health technologies, on how technology can be designed to better support people’s needs, and on modelling situated interactions.
