Prof Hugh Montgomery is the Director of the Centre for Human Health and Performance at the University College London (UCL).
He obtained his BSc (cardiorespiratory physiology and neuropharmacology) in 1984, before graduating from the Middlesex Hospital Medical School in 1987. A decade later, he was awarded his MDRes, and has since led a research group at UCL. He has published over 300 papers.
Hugh's current research interests focus on the mechanisms which regulate the maintenance of muscle mass in critical illness, and on the human response to hypoxia. He also has an active interest in the use of data in healthcare- whether to improve clinical service of help identify new therapeutic targets or modes of intervention.
