Three final projects for FAST Healthcare NetworksPlus
Final FAST Healthcare projects
We wanted to let you know about three projects we have recently awarded. These will be the last projects under the FAST Healthcare NetworksPlus umbrella, though we hope that you will all keep up your connections with us. We also have news from our partners on an exciting roadmap report and a funding call.
Two new projects on Early Detection of Cancer
We awarded two projects as a result of our recent call for proposals on Early Detection of Cancer:
- Moi Hoon Yap at Manchester Metropolitan University will be working on detection of skin cancer.
- Ihtesham Rehman at Lancaster University already has one project with us on Raman spectroscopy of biofilms, and successfully pitched another for this call on detecting colorectal cancer, along with co-worker Abdullah Talari.
Both new projects start on 1st November 2020. We are excited to see what the outcomes will be!
Human Factors Resources Project
Our Operations Team also decided to award a short 2 month project on human factors resources after hearing about the problems faced by some early career researchers in this area, including some of our project leaders. The project is being run by Jeremy Opie at UCL and will provide video resources and documentation to support engineers in working with healthcare workers. We hope that this will be a lasting legacy that will support many early career researchers in this interdisciplinary area.
